How long until your fans come on

Hi,

I've started using ECO mode recently. I've found that it take very little time for the temp to get upto 97 and the fans to come on, in fact you can almost see the needle moving. If I run on auto then the fans very rarely come on. I understand that having AC on means that the air coming into the car needs heating futher, but I'm quite suprised at the difference this makes. Is this normal, or does my radiator need flushing?

As I understand things, AC cars have three fans and two rads.

When the AC is on then one fan/rad combo is already running and thus takes longer for the car to get to temp.  If eco is engaged (AC off) then no fans are running and thus upto temp quicker. 

When overtemp is approaching, the engine fan comes on at low speed to bring the temp down.  If this does not work and the temp continues to rise (say, if towing and uphill) then the fan comes onto high speed to get the temp down.

It may be that the fan combinations as quoted may be out ie two engine fans, one AC but the gist is correct, as far as I recall.   :y

Anyone know what temp the low speed fan comes on? Is that the one that comes on at 97ish?

With A/C off, yes I think so.
