Im thinking about maybe trading in my Mig for something else im just not sure at the moment, as i've always owned vauxhalls and i really like the Omega ( when it works lol) but ive just come across this Mondeo ....dont hate me for pasting this lol

Has anyone ever owned a Mondeo? what are they like to drive/own? are there any problems with them that buys should be wary of?  :-/

owned a Mk1 2.0, never let me down. Ride hand handling is not a patch on the Omega though. (at the time comparing to same age pre-facelift) mpg was also same as my Omega 

If i was getting another, i would get the latest shape, in estate form with 130 TDCi engine....

wish i could afford the new shape but due to bank account levels its going to have to be a second hand one lol    ive heard mondeos are very reliable in terms of the engine but there are expensive problems that can occur with the suspension :question

mine used to eat front tyres, but that was before i heard of WIM. I did 30k in it, had about 1 service, i never checked the oil or did anything with it....

2.5 will be thirsty though, in that shape you can get the TDCi with the 6 speed manual

reading through the figures it says the "combined mpg" for the 2.5 would be around 28mpg and at the moment im only getting 25mpg at best with the Mig lol  also looking at insurance quotes im actually getting lower quotes for this 2.5 than i got for my 2.2 omega..seems odd!

Wonder if it needs belts at 40k?

just depends on what they'll give me part ex for the mig now, :-?... if i can get at least £1500-£1800 i'll be happy but im not sure what second hand omegas are going for these days  :-/

Private i would say yes depending on mileage and codition and your's is a late model but it all depends what a dealer will chop you in at

mileage is 90,000... full service history..4 new tyres, camblet, cam covers, water pump and breathers all done but like you say depends on what the dealer will give me in part ex, the classic line ive had before when part ex-ing my other 3 omegas was...."thing is people just dont want big cars these days"

Not being funny or anything mate,but you'll be lucky,i was told my mv6 02 plate 114,000 miles was only worth £800 from a garage in p/x,you can guess what i told him. ,plus car is as good as mint,and that price was with 12 months ticket and 6 months tax.

I have had two of this shape mondeo in the past,one hatchback the other an estate - both were 130TDCi engines though.Reliable and servicing was cheap to say the least.Not quite as big as the Omega but then again not much on the market is these days.

ive owned 2 mk2 1.8 mondeos. reliable , cheap for spares, but.. greedy on fuel , my 2.5 v6 mig is as good  if not better sometimes on fuel , didnt handle very well even with alloys an low profs, if you want reliability you cant beat em, keep em reasonably serviced an they are ok.do what they say on the tin comes to mind, not a patch on my mig but that said they arent on the same level.my 1st was an estate paid £650 , only put an exhaust an tyres on in 2 an half yrs, usual consumables.it was written off by a hit an run smack head, other wise i might still have it,.2nd one i paid £500 only bought coz i needed transport, i abused it , drove it across farmfields, serviced it once in two yrs and scrapped it got £100 back, if all you need is a cheap to buy/repair reliable runabout then they are fine .
