Bloody Laser V6 Timing kit UTTER CRAP!!!
« on: 23 June 2007, 21:47:15 »

As per the title, I just used the brand new timing kit I purchased, to correct the timing on my V6.

Fair play, it's a crock of sh*te compared to the Sykes Pickavant kit. Flimsy crap.

The main flaw with it, is the crank to water pump locking tool. I attached it to the crank pulley, pulled the crank pulley around into position, and went to attach the tool to the pump. To my surprise, although fitted to the crank correctly, the tool was too far forwards (eg towards the rad) to fit the water pump at the top!! It just turned straight past it!! I tried numerous times, it's definaltey not me... this tool doesn't work!!

About as much use as a friggin chocolate teapot.

Might as well have took £70, and set f'ing fire to it. Really cross about this, especially after stripping down to reset the timing.

I will be onto the ebay seller about this, and asking for a full refund to go towards an SP kit. Or a replacement product that works  >:(

Lazer. poor quality? Surely not?

I have seen this kit up close and personal and I wouldn't use it for something so important. Stick to SP or that other one I can't think of now, but it isn't lazer.

Yep, not fit for the purpose it was bought for - so full refund mate.

Incidentally, have you got the instructions for my SP kit - they were missing when I got it back...

The Glossy type paper that lives in the case?

Pretty sure it went with it - but I'll have a double check in the Elite boot when I get home...

I've got the Laser kit and it did the job. Clearly not as good quality as a SP one but it certainly didn't have the issues your one seems to have.

I think you've got a duff one.

Manufacturing fault eh..

If he swaps out for one that works, I'll be happy...

I have the same kit and found it to have the same problem.   Then I put it on correctly and it lined up nicely.  Unless yours is a duff...

Very nice Email (via ebay) sent to seller at 5am this morning, asking for either a working replacement or a refund.

Still not heard anything back.

I'll give him 48 hours to respond, before I open a paypal dispute.

Ahh.. a reply.

"please call laser technical 01926 815000 and speak to them thanks..they will be able to answer your question better, ask the name of the person you speak to and we will get in touch and swop it over if it needs be.. "

Not sure I'm convinced that this is the way forwards, or if I should be calling laser.

Surely my contact should be with the seller.... (a tool company), and not the manufacturer?

Its a standard guarantee thing. If it goes wrong the manufacturer deals with it.

O2 do the same with phones, if it goes wrong in the first month you take it back to O2, after that you have to send it to the manufacturer.

You might not like it but its more likely than not part of the 'shops' standard terms and conditions.

The fact you didnt know that is your fault for not asking to see them before you purchased the tool - Thats a standard BS answer by the way

The seller has sold you goods that are not fit for purpose so if anyone should be chasing the manufacturer it's him, IMHO.

Have you already left feedback?
