I've just been checking under the bonnet of my lad's '93 1.4 clit.

There is a corrugated foil pipe (about 3" in diameter), which goes from the exhaust manifold upto the air filter. The pipe was originally coated in some form of insulation - but over the years about 90% of it has gone.

I've just noticed that there is a hold about 1/4" diameter in this pipe - it dosn't look like a fault - but I can't see why it should be there.

Any ideas?

I assume it's a carb model? I think the pipe is there to prevent carb icing in the cold weather as it warms the air up going into the carb. Can't see a reason for a hole to be in it to be honest so I assume it's just worn through.

No, it's fuel injected, single point

aah, I would still assume it's there to assist running in cold weather... I wouldn't have thought the hole in it should be there but wouldn't think it would matter too much particularly as the weather is starting to warm up.

mattg is spot on... Single Point injection is still essentially a carb... Just the fuel is a little better modulated
