Spare Key
« on: 15 March 2010, 14:19:55 »

Took a trip to my local VX dealer today to obtain a car pass and order a spare key. Car Pass quite reasonable at £23.50 but £137 for a programmed key. GULP. I think I'll have to save a tad longer for that and hope I don't mislay the one I've got.

I believe they are a lot cheaper from an admin , ask STMO or Skruntie, maybe Kevin Wood, I am not totally sure.

Buy an uncut one from eGay with a used remote, get Martin Imber (member here) to recon the remote, get the key cut to match at your local coblers and take a trip to one of the Tech2 owners on here for programming. That'll be closer to £70 than £137!!!

I reckon a decent auto locksmith would program it for £10  - £20.

Locksmiths only tend to clone the chips rather than program them properly IME.

Andy B vs Andyb this is getting too complicated  ;D

Yup the car needs to be present as the key needs to be in the ignition and tech2 connected in order to program it.

Errr no, only Vaux dealers will as you need tech2, for competitive prices and to have someone know what they are doing speak to TheBoy (Brackley) or MarksDTM Calib (Nottingham) as they are closest to you with tech2
