Yes. Same engine, slightly suspension set up, and "real" MV6's have a proper gearbox!  

Im really hoping you mean that manuals are cool, cos my manual MV6 spot-on, just a real shame the the original owner did'nt invest in the limited slip diff when he purchased it new. Still 225 horses at the rear wheels is good, LSD or not.

What have you done to get 225bhp?

Oh yes... "driver involvement pack" is the way to go!  

You also don't have to worry about going out one day and wondering if you will end the day searching for the remains of your thrust washer in the sump!

CAT back bastruck group N exhaust, panel filter and an enlarged throttle body.  dyno'd last year without the throttle body. did 218 first run and 225 second after ajustment.

Mate of mine had a chip done on an MV6 similar to mine and reported 7hp difference for nearly 300 quid. so no not really.

What are these chips like that Mtek gets, do they actually improve the performance a great deal? do they also improve economy when driven careful??

I think a decent chip would be a better bet. Replacing the map in the stock ECU is a better bet than trying to fool it by manipulating the inputs. Besides, a chip will give you a new ignition and fuelling map, and to get any improvement out of a normally aspirated engine you need to optimise both.

As long as the map in the chip has been developed properly you've only got the last couple of horsepower to gain from mapping the car individually.

Power Engineering in Uxbridge, west london do a superchips chip where they re-map the ecu whilst playing with the engine on a rolling road to get things spot on....... is this the best way to go about it? Personally im happy with the standard horses but if its good and people want it done that way I think the prices started at £225 for the chip and rolling road tuning...... going back to my corrado days tho so might be more expensive now?

That sounds like a reasonable deal for a rolling road tune. Depends how long they spend on it on the day, of course, but if they're kitted out to modify the maps on the fly on the rollers and then burn you a chip with the new maps on, that seems reasonable value. It's certainly in the same ballpark to what I would expect to be charged if I turned up with a mappable ECU, although it won't be a complete re-map, just a tweak here and there.

As to how much difference it makes, I don't know as I've never driven a chipped Omega. As with all natasp engines, there's no magic boost value that can be turned up so you're really limited to improving bits of the OEM map that are lacking. Others have said it makes a worthwhile difference, however.
