insurance
« on: 09 February 2010, 14:21:56 »

Last week i was stationary waiting for the lights to go green behind two cars and was in the gap between them and a row of parked cars behind i was about 99% on my side of the road when some absolute idiot came round the corner and hit my wing mirror and the back of my motor. Now this is where the brains of these people really show, i went round to the guys house friday night the day after the accident and was chatting and said i assume you are just going to admit liability oh no not that simple. The half wit then proceded to come out with a load of bullshite about i was impeding his right of way so he had come to the conclusion that it was my fault. What an idiot but what can i do his two kids were running round so i thought it might be a bit unfair to get there daddy in a head lock and give him a few digs untill i made sense to him but instead i just walk out calling him a pratt.

Write down what happened and try to draw a diagram of car position etc, the guy's not got a leg to stand on and his insurance company will see that.

Two years ago I came off a roundabout and my left indicator didn't cancel, 300 yards down the road there was a street on the left hand side with a car waiting to turn out going right. The guy saw my indicator flashing left and assumed I was turning so pulled out; I plowed into the side of him as I was going straight and had no intention of turning, regardless of whether I was indicating or not.

The guy got upset and said it was my fault for indicating. The highway code said it was his fault as I had right of way regardless of indicating, he should have waited. His insurance paid up without any argument :)

had a result yesterday with the insurance company third party has admitted liability. So an engineer will be out today and a cheque should be in the post soon.

Takes a while but worth the effort .. I'm still argueing over the minor dink back in November .. but at least MY insurers agree with me .. just the 3rd party and his insurers won't admit liability .. so looks like a court case .. :)

Could be interesting   ..  :)

i know its a nightmare but the third party have admited it under the insruction of the insurance company i knew it was there fault but its just protocol the they dont admit it straight away and its all fell into place as i got an estimate done yeterday and its £850 plus vat so with the cash in loo settelment ill get the estimate minus the vat. Which is very handy as i am getting married this year and because its only cosmetic damage im not to bothered about the repairs. So there is a silver lining in every cloud

im a very happy man this afternoon just had the assessor out and talking to him as he is one of my dads old friends told me to take no less than £900 not bad for a wing mirror and a bit of work on the back of the car. and he said it maybe a bit more than that so the wedding fund is looking alot better today. Well im pretty glad the pillock hit into me now.  ;D

neither did i but i think i was just really lucky and provident doesnt belong to direct line so they will argue over it but once liability was admited i went straight to the third party

Yes rikki there is a lot of pricks on the road today, and its quite worrying that some of them drive artics, like the one who took my front end off,and all he could say is,i thought i would get round,i mean correct me if i am wrong, but quite some time ago, there were these things called mirrors which were invented ::).Why should he be in control of such a large vehicle if he cant even use his mirrors in the correct way >:(,still you have had a good result, lets hope i get one too. :) :y
