Did an oil and filter change today, along with engine flush. Everything went fairly well and a nice sunny afternoon to boot. I thought that something had gone drastically wrong when I let the car down. I heard a loud hissing sound and smelt something that was familiar.

I had 5 seconds of utter panic before I realized there was a can of wd40 stood under the front bumper. 1/4 of a can of wd40 wasted.

What a difference the oil and filter change made though.

If it has made that much difference, do another at 500m, then stick to 3 - 4k changes

oil and filter changes do make a huge difference!! My 2.2 was abused in its previous life, regular changes made a big difference!  

Also clean the breather system and throttle bodys, that helps too

Mine was & I'd wanted to do mine yesterday while I was on a rest day from work, but not having access to underwater breathing apparatus I couldn't.  I got my act together when I got home at 8 and did it!
