Stealers Fantastic Service - NOT!
« on: 27 March 2010, 10:10:18 »

Just need to have a quick rant and vent my spleen on this one!

Just got back from my local stealers to have the Tech2 switch on my cruise control. It was booked in 2 weeks ago because they were so busy (apparently) this was the earliest they could do it. After dragging myself there for 8.20 this morning to try to get in first, they then informed me I needed my info card from the service pack. Fortunately, I have it, although you would think they might have mentioned this at the time I booked it 2 weeks ago. I watched them disapoint another customer while I was there because they hadn't told him he would need a card either. So after nearly an hours wait, they came back to me & told me they couldn't do it! They are used to doing the 2.5 and were looking for a brake switch and cable and don't know how to switch cruise on with the DBW cars! They are going to have to phone Vauxhall (who aren't open till Monday) to find out how. They did kindly point out to me that there was no charge for wasting my time this morning, which was nice since they had had 2 weeks to figure this all out! Especially since I had given them my car reg. at the time & they had told ME what my car was. To add final insult to injury, they didn't even have a dash bulb in-stock. I had bought the last one how long ago? Yes, 2 weeks ago and they had never re-ordered them.

Long live the quality of service from stealers!  >:(

Sorry, rant over. Now where is the next nearest stealer to try to find someone who knows how to work Tech2?  :D

Have a good weekend everyone!  ;D

Sorry to hear you have had bad service from a dealer.

As a side story, we bought my wife's Astra from a dealer and it came with an offer of free MOT's for life. I fully expected this to be usual con of allways finding a chargeable fault with it. Well wife took it in for 08.30 this morning and they found the middle seat belt jammed (we never use it). They freed it off and it passed with flying colours and no charge.

I guess there are good dealers and bad dealers. If you are ever in the Southampton area I cannot recomend Picador Vauxhall in Southampton and Chandlers Ford highly enough, they no there business and are not rip off merchants.

Ow dear....I would avoid them.

Ow yes, you dont need the security card to do this little job.

All they needed to do ws gon into the engine variant programming screen and set cruise control to enabled. This would come back with a seek authority from tis request.

So you then plug Tech2 into the computer hosting TIS and run the security enable option from the main screen.

Now connect Tech2 back upto the car, access the engine variant programming screen and enable cruise.

Simples.

Next step is to go into the engine live data screen and check the cruise buttons are working, the brake switch is working and the clutch switch is working........easy peasy.

Ow yes, you dont need tech2 to sort cruise on the non DBW cars

I'm just back from my next nearest stealer to get my bulb and asked them about the cruise control. The service guy told me hadn't done it in ages, couldn't remember how and would probably take an hour. That would be charge of £70 + vat! My day just gets better. :-X

At least they had a bulb.  :D

Anyone know any good dealers in the North East? I'm down Southampton in July, hope I don't have to wait that long though.

Well, you'll be passing pretty close to 3 Tech 2's on the way so feel free to pop in for a "no BS" cruise enable.  :y

Bearing in mind that I've not done it for ages, have forgotten how, etc. so it'll be a long job. At least 10 minutes, I'd say. ;)

Have you tryed the stealers on wessington way its next to the A1231 as you drive from the A19 towards sunderland. you could give them a call.

but I would rather ask one of the OOF guys if they could help you, I trust them more than I would trust a stealer.
