Air filters

I'm sure it's been on here before, but what do people reckon on these new-fangled cotton air filters?

Cotton filters require oiling if I'm not mistaken so dodgy ground on cars with a MAF sensor.

Unless the OEM one has been proven to be a restriction I wouldn't bother, especially at that price (although I think they can be cleaned and re-used).

No induction kits seem to have been proven to increase power on the Omega so I can't really see any benefit.

I have one on mine (same as link) but only because I'm a tight Scots git and was needing a new filter when I got the car.  A new one like the link was available at a good price and I worked out that if I kept the car for more than 2 years I would be in pocket!!   :y  No performance gains anticipated, but not really got much to compare against.   ;)

I didn't mean to say they're a no-no with a MAF, just be a little sparing with the oil as you don't want to over-oil the filter to the extent that it generates oil mist.

How often do they recommend cleaning and re-oiling the element? This will need doing more often than a paper element and remember that it's the oil that traps the dust and prevents it from being ingested on cotton filters so don't let them dry out.
