Problems with LPG Pump

Had issues tonight with LPG at Shell, could not get the damn thing to equalize pressure.

Has same nozzle (Gas Guard) as Asda which i have used before no problems:



Linned the lugs up, pushed on, would not go back any further, rotated the disc thingy until it would not rotate any more (quarter turn) Pull the handle and as i lock it, could just hear gas escaping  :-/

No matter how much fiddling, or how much ore little i rotated the pump, the damn thing would not stop leaking gas when i pulled the handle  :-/

It was almost completely out of gas, maybe that was the issue? Never had a problem at Asda. Got a nice little LPG burn now too  >:(

Filled up at BP no issues!

On the upside, i rotated the tank a tad more the other day, now getting 74L in, so bang on really.

I did speak to the staff there, but what they knew about LPG could be written on a stamp....

Must have been low pressure at the pump  :-/

The seal in the nozzle was probably FUBAR ;) ;) ;)

Agreed. Probably the last punter had a dirty filler nozzle or dropped it in the mud.

Unlikely to be a problem at your end. :y

Surprised they didn't have a guard on the pump. Not often I come across one without round here. Can be nasty stuff in liquid form. And it makes you smell like onions. ::)

nozzle looked clean, even spun around and tried the other pump on the other side were someone filled up ok, was really odd  :-/

Was about 11:30 at night though  ::) - But i was doing same i always did at Asda  :-/

There was a guard, but me trying different way to get it on, created a cloud of gas  ;D

Odd that both pumps did it. Have you successfully filled the car since?

Should have filled up at lunch time at Asda, on way to work, but wanted to run tank dry to see how much i could get in. Least that's solved now, bang on with 74.8L from empty to fill

just topped up at Asda today, using same style pump, no issues!

Comparing them, the twist part on the Asda pump felt a lot more positive and firm (ooo eerr  :o)

Shell pump it would rotate further and had no bite to it.

Still getting 24mpg, but its working out at 10.8p per mile  :D

must be very similar milage running on lpg then to petrol, which sounds good... 

When i am able to afford my next car, I would really like to get a lpg 2.5, but, for the time being, I have my tractor...

Actually i've had a fairly big drop in mpg, i would easily get 30mpg from a tank, in the summer 34mpg, but its pence per mile which is important. Costing me around 10/11p per mile instead of 18/19p
