Possible replacement for the Citroen
« on: 02 May 2010, 01:48:32 »

Went to see this today, could well be my next car, anything to be worried about? Looks better than the pics and not valeted yet :)
Miles are motorway miles, the brake pedal rubber is less worn than my Citroen with only 35k on it... ::)

Sat in 3.0 V6 CDTi other day, was more comfy than i was expecting!

Loads of the auto 3.2 plods going though auction have buggered autoboxes, not sure how well they last against the diesels.

I would go for a manual  :y

They're not bad but, SAAB's are better and they handle nicer thanks to having a large overhaul at the SAAB factory.

Vamps, For gods sake do not buy your car from them!!!! I guarantee they will be all smiles until you drive away, but if you have any issues, they will get nasty, and I mean NASTY! >:(
 I am talking from bitter experience here as that is where I bought my Omega from last april. They knew I had serious health problems and needed a reliable car, but when the day after I bought it the throttle wouldn't work, they low loaded it back to the garage, had the codes read at their 'tame' local garage & promptly blamed me for, quote: "dragging the shite from the bottom of the petrol tank & causing a blockage" and promptly wanted to charge me £80 for the lowloader!. In actual fact, they had driven it out of the showroom on empty & I had put in the gallon from the can I always carry & then refuelled just around the corner! The owner was a really nasty, foulmouthed piece of work. Buy it if you must, but please be very careful mate!  :y

I've dropped the tank from 140k mile 11 year old TD, bottom of the fuel tank was perfectly clean  :)

Which is the same as me :( I have ample time, my Citroen is not due back till Aug 4th and we still have the Galant or a Mig, depending on who wins between swmbo and me.... ::) ::) ::)

Given what you say, and others have said about the geerbox, think I will leave this alone..... :y
Thanks for the input chaps.... :y
Thinking Cap back on............ ::) ::) ::)

The 3.0 V6 CDTI destroys the auto gearboxes, sometimes as early as mid 60k.
I wouldn't chance a 1.9 either. But as you've said you only want an auto, I think it's best to avoid the Vectra C...with a manual they're fine.

What's your criterion for a potential vehicle? I assume it must be auto? Diesel, hatch or saloon etc?
