Tyres (Again)
« on: 13 May 2010, 21:51:29 »

Hi,

Got the alloys swapped over on my omega the other day for one's I won on ebay, kept the tyres on that they came with, a cheapo brand but loads of tread compared to the goodyear eagle F1's I had on, however, the ride and handling are crap compared to the goodyears so looking to get new tyres fitted ASAP. Blackcircles do 4 F1's fitted for under £400 which isn't bad, anyone recommend other alternatives for a decent tyre that gives good grip?

Cheers,
Iain

Firestone FireHawk SZ80

About £80 each.  Awesome grip in the wet, slightly noisier than Conti's though.

IMO well worth a look.

Hi,

Conti's add about £150 to the price. Can't say i've found fault with the goodyears, even though they were well worn, once or twice when accelerating heavily the TC has kicked in but when the guy took the tyres off it wasn't surprising why :D. I'm not putting anything cheap on as i've had nothing but problems with them, not the thing to be skimped on with the power it can put down

Cheers,
Iain

Hi,

Seem to be a good tyre but a bit out of my price range, just need somthing that will take the corners and roundabout in the wet with confidence, F1's are my preffered the now but welcome to opinions from all :y, if there's cheaper and better let me know!!

Cheers,

gone up since i got mine in a stock size then, thought 245 35 18 where bloody steep purely due to the odd size.

We're talking about 235 45 17 i take it?

paid 370 for 4 sc3 begining of last year, but iirc he did me a big favour due to the falken 912 disaster he sold me that i had to bin early with 3 or 4 mill of tread left. So dont fit falken 912..... or  p zero if weds experience is anything to go by.

Would like to try Bridgestone potenza i think, no idea on cost though.

Hi,

I don't know lol, I thought the tyre guy had left one on the car as one of the tyres the new alloys came with was knackered but its a cheap copy so don't have the old tyres to see what F1's they were, though looking at blackcircles website the GSD3 looks like the ones I had. They don't do 225's though :-/
