Thats a scary price! What "L" postcode are you? I live in Skem which is also a high loading and admittedly I'm older than you and only have a 2.2 but £300-odd FComp. Definitely shop around.
A classic sounds nice but as an everyday car may be fraught with reliability issues  :-/
I reckon they should charge you old gits more,as you tend to lose your marbles as you get older. ;D :D

Cheeky young wippersnapper! Sorry, what did where we talking about?  :P

I found that the company with the iggy pop shouting all over their adverts became more reasonable after second or third time i entered my details. Im 35 and live in a bad postcode in manchester and park 2 litre CD on the street.

I know I could insure a focus or a astra for less but just take extra cost on the chin, basically because I dont want another astra or focus. It sucks to be paying half or more the value of your car in insurance every year when you have been driving nearly twenty years but Id still prefer to drive a nice car.

That said, Id be down the East Lancs like a shot to have a look at a 2.6 or 3litre LPG omega that still had a bit of life left in it.

mine's not due til september but i just did a test quote with swiftcover.com and it looks like it might be the way to go when i do renew, although, when you initially get your quote you have to look on the right of the page... then modify everything they wrongly assumed!!!

i noticed one of the conditions of cover was that "your car is worth less than £30,000" but it doesn't say its actually been placed in the "£5,000-£30,000" bracket, as opposed to "under £5,000", so i changed all my vehicle details, added my alarm, lowered my annual mileage as it was 3000 too high and even added the missus as a named driver, and it took £300 off the price, and INCLUDES my aftermarket alloy wheels, stating that if they're worth less than £1000 they dont even need to know about them!! :y

knowing my luck, by september they'll change their ways and rob me blind!!

Just had the renewal through for my insurance and it's ridiculously expensive due to my postcode >:(.

Thinking of selling the Omega  :'(and going down the classic route as I can insure some nice stuff for peanuts i.e less than £100 fully comprehensive despite the postcode as I don't cover many miles these days.

Been offered a grand or so for the LPG miggy( would prefer a bit more though) so could get another Mercedes 190e or maybe an older 5 series.

I'm not going to rush into anything but would welcome suggestions of other motors for up to £2000 that would qualify for the classic jobbie!

Only other option would be to insure it at my dad's address but I am a legit person in that way.

Im 35 with 12 years NCB btw which is a real sickener!

I am 20 with 1year ncb and drive my 2.5 omega saloon cd insured by rac fully comp and im only £65.15 a month for 9 months for a 20yearold thats not too bad, and if you dont want to insure your omega for the price you have you couldnt want the car that much then?
