FuntimeFriday - Unfortunate Names
« on: 29 June 2007, 15:16:50 »

Did you know.....this is NOT a wind up......

Beko's real trading name is arcelik but for some reason they don't use that brand over here.

Its owned by Koc Holdings.

 ;D ;D

Anyone else know of unfortunate names that just wouldnt cut it in the UK market?

I was at school with a Sikh bloke called Kamiil Jeet, which pronounced in his Mother tongue sounded like Camel Sh1t.

Also a friend of mine used to work for a large fund manager in Edinburgh and one of her accounts was for Kinky Nippon Holdings.

Doesn't beat your Koc ups though Jock!!  ;D

In a previous life I was a ships engineer and regularly sailed with Hong Kong Chinese crew members.

One engineroom donkeyman was called Wun Fuk Ti (not 100% on the spelling, but you get the gist) and surprisingly, could see very well.

True.....   :y

i delivered post to someone of that surname yesterday  :y

on one, the name was printed in block capitals which looked a bit more obvious, DE'ATH, and one missed the apostrophe out completely  ;D

One guy was called John Pratt which is not soo bad but his evil parents gave him the middle name of ISA very mean.

Another Guy was Called Baites and when we were lined up getting told off the teacher went down the line saying Master Rennie thats me Master So and So and when It got the Baitesy he was Called Mr Baites

3 Brothers at my Ex Wifes School were call Wayne, Lee. Joe but their Surname was King
