Just thinking over having a Diesel saloon aswell, Byron.....best of both worlds then, cheaper than buying a newer 3.2 elite estate, but as i don't really want to part with my 99 estate, will drive the wheasel day to day to work in Bristol, and play with it a bit......keep the estate bog standard. Might even get a non m.o.t one and "do it up".

Have a "project car"......

I believe the TD is indirect injection .. to a swirl pot outside the combustion chamber,  the DTi is direct injection into the cylinder ??

indirect injection keeps the temperatures lower and the mixture does not have to be quite so accurate, so mechanical injectors work

direct injection is only possible with electronic injectors and high temperature alloy pistons

Thats my understanding anyway  :)

Not quite.

The DTi is direct injection but, its not common rail.

The DT does use swirl pots.

The DTi is the under rated Vx 4 pot and the DT is the over rated BMW 6 pot ;D

That answers my question ;D :y :y
