Irmscher side skirts
« on: 12 July 2010, 00:09:38 »

Is it me or do these fit like a glove on an Elephants arse?

They're a good set not warped or anything but they just don't seem to fit right. To short in length as they don't sit inside the end caps like the originals do. They sit too low on the car leaving a gap under the doors and are a battle to get them to reach the pips under the sill. For irmscher that's poor IMO.

Er, wouldn't be irmscher otherwise, stamped as such, or it's moulded in anyway. Same plastic type as the rest of the kit. Too well made to be copies like the glass fibre crap you sometimes see. No reason to doubt them, tbh others I've seen didn't fit well in a similar ways, but now I've fitted some I can see for myself.

I would expect theres a certain way to fit em chris to be fair. You say they struggle to reach the studs underneath, have you snapped the top clips into place first?,as obviously that would give you more leeway to get the studs in.Where theres a will ,theres a way. ;)

Def for a face lift, they seem in good nic and are actually fitted to the car. They just seem a bit short in length and width. They are clipped in ok. Rest of the kit fitted lovely so was surprised with these. As said though,I've seen other irmscher side skirts on other oof cars and they seem similarly short with the end caps compared to the gm items.

I had my full kit fitted at the main dealers and they said that the side skirts were a mass produced article for several different cars hence why the end caps fit inside the skirts and not the other way round as with the original skirts.

Hope that helps.

Hmm, looks the same, maybe slightly less gap to the doors on yours

Mine a bit short by the front wheel, maybe needs shunting forward a bit, but it wanted to locate there due to the location hole in the wheel arch liner, and stock skirts seem to fit the end caps better. :-/
