Looks like people are cheating and setting up a thin client & VM ware:

http://gizmodo.com/5523905/masochist-runs-windows-xp-on-an-ipad

Nothing new, i use LogMeIn on my iPhone to control my various Windows boxes, its fine on decent WiFi/3G but no good out and about.

If it could be made dual boot, would be awesome!

VXR8 would be nice but expensive, Phaetons are nice, and fairly cheap considering launch price, but they are a Bentley with a VW badge, so can expect Bentley running costs  :(

Passat is FWD? Beemer 5 series is about only serious choice  :-/
Well it is the only choice  ;) ;)

;D ;D ;D

Jags lovely cars, but I can't escape the Ford build quality, my S-Type has air vents from a MK2 Ford Mondeo, take out the traction control switch there is a Ford badge on the side  :-/ Models after 2002 are better but not just because I have a BMW either they're nowhere near the build quality.  Not bad on the handling front but a bit soggy.

XJR is lovely but you can't justify those fuel costs, I have it until later today when it's collected, gave it a good thrashing yesterday and earlier this morning to get some fuel (£10 doesn't go far either) and it was averaging 7 MPG  :(

it is a sad fact most will disappear from the roads, but not all of them, there are enthusiasts out there who will keep them on the roads. Its why i started Cavmk3 up, because people where using them as cheap runarounds then sending them to the scrappy. fewer and fewer are now on the roads. most of the people on the forum now rebuild them and maintain them to "keep" them on the road. Myself included. ive had mine for well over 5 years and wouldnt dream of selling it, its got hardly any rust on it cant say that about  the 05 plate focus down the road ;D

Omega's will probably go down the same route. they will get rarer and rarer to see every day, but for me you can keep your brand new car, id rather drive something i love instead :y

Well I do not know of a car that hasn't throughout motoring history as of course they are designed to life expire.  Only the efforts and lots of money of the enthusiast for a particular car will delay the process, but bit by bit the vehicle becomes something that is not original.

Even with steam railway engines, with heavy steel plates and castings, they gradually are becoming less of the original, and so cars of light construction will certainly always do! :'( :'( :'(

I'm having to let mine go as I simply cannot afford to put the fuel in it anymore, and as my wife is showing no signs of sorting out CBT or driving lessons so she can get herself to work I am still having to take her in, even though my work place is within cycling distance of home. I'm therefore having to get something cheaper on fuel.

It's a shame as the Elite is the best car I've ever had, most comfy and I've just had a lot of work done on her to put her right after being a bit neglected by the previous owner. Whoever has her next is getting a real nice runner.

I voted undecided - the Omega I just use for local stuff, station parking and now tool carrying and trips to tip - so a bit of a sad end to twilight years.

However, it had new engine 15000 miles ago, new rear shocks and springs and tyres last year so it will run for a good number of years. Hence a bit of a dilemma.

The long journey stuff is now courtesy of Phaeton V6 3.0 diesel which is doing 36 to gallon.

I voted "forever". Forever is rather a long time but as I expect to pass away fairly soon I have made arrangements for a JCB and I will be buried in my car.  :(

I would imagine after the budget on the 22nd there will be a big queue (behind Nickbat) for the electric cars as they come off the production line in the North east. It will only be the wealthy or the eccentric that can afford to run them after the 22nd. ;D ;D ;D

How have service costs been? Or is too early to tell?
