Last week I picked up a 2.5 estate, pretty good condition but the previous owner had carried dogs in it. As a result some interior trim was a bit rough and he had put blue tinted film on rear doors, rear quarters and at some point the tailgate. The problem is it was done badly, in fact very badly, he obviously didn't have a sharp knife and tried to skimp by patching parts together, then at some point he removed the film from the tailgate but couldn't be bothered to remove the glue............ Then add that he obviously had a rear window advert at some point and couldn't be bothered to remove the blue tack you can imagine how good it looked (and how bad visibility was).

I have now just spent 4hrs of my Sunday up to my arms in white spirit removing film, glue and smeared blue tack, it looks a whole lot better but is far from finished. The part I really don't get is why do it in the first place, when I put my hand on the tinted windows they were noticeably warmer than non tinted so defeat the object on the dog front, or maybe he just wanted to star in pimp-my-omega, who knows

sharp blade in a holder and tar and glue remover and a clean cloth sorts the mess tints leave behind. still not a easy job but thats the best way.sometimes a sharp finger nail to lift the tints helps too but after a few windows they don't stay sharp for long lol

Yep Autoglym tar n glue remover would have got that off with ease, along with the razor blade. Just be carefull tho not to take of the heated screen lines in the back window.

Actually I didn't need any kind of blade for the film or the glue, plain old white spirit, a kitchen roll and elbow grease gets it off. I was being ultra careful as i've trashed a heated screen before (on a mk3 cortina of all things!) so I was trying to just scrub side to side. I did look in Halfrauds for some type of cleaner but didn't see the Autoglym, would have been nice because I can still smell it on my hands 

On a side note I also scratched the front screen on my other mig when removing bird crap using a so called non abrasive kitchen sponge, you only go these places once.

Just dont use razors on the HRW full stop - unless it's the last resort.

I've seen several omegas of late with tinted rears, but that real black tint. I understand (I guess) hiding your children away, but why not go (if you must) with a more elegant less dark tint all the way round rather than just the back. Makes an Omega look like a van! Glad you got it sorted!

because front side are pretty much as dark as the law allows already.

Its not cos off the temperture in the car mate. Its for keeping the sun out. Same reason you have a sun screen at the back. For cooling you have your airco

next time try heat the tint with hair dryer before removing it

The only reason I tint the rear windows of any car I have is to protect my kids from getting badly burned from the sun.
I often drive over to Germany in summer and it is very hot there. so to protect them from direct sunlight it is better.

Have nearly always limo black tinted the rear windows of my estates (and about to do it again!)

firstly:-so the scallywags can't see what I'm carrying in the rear (tools, stock, etc)
Secondly:- gives some degree of glass retention should it be smashed
Thirdly:-keeps it cooler in the back so the plastic components and drill boxes don't warp in the heat
Fourthly:- gives a good degree of UV protection,
And lastly:- cos I like it.
With a standard otherwise looking dark green or black estate it looks relatively ok. IMHO.

Also another bonus is when the rear half of the car is tinted especially in limo black it darkens the front of the car which makes the front windows look tinted too. i noticed this when i had mine tinted before.
