Another meggy possibly bites the dust
« on: 17 July 2010, 11:50:40 »

 :-[ :o :(

Another meggy could be biting the dust.

I've admitted defeat with my '99 T 3.0 Irmscher Elite Saloon.  :'(

Good bits
New pads, front & rear, flushed brake fluid & filled with lovely new ATE SL6 fluid. So the brakes are ok. Additionally one nearly new drivers rear ATE brake caliper as a spare if needs be.

Carin is working ok. 2008 VDO Dayton disc is installed and come in as a handy back up occasionally.

Full Witter towbar & electrics fitted.

All standard Elite accoutrements fitted

Bad bits
Coolant fault has got me *issed off. New rad switch, new thermostat, new bridge washers, new top hose, new expansion tank and new hbv. Still playing up.

Front headlight levelling switch is frigged, so headlight field warning is triggered.

Oil leak is narking me too. I've got the rocker cover seal kit, plenty of loverly new Mobil Super S 10W 40 for the oil change.

So..... I'm not willing to take it to the local scrappy and be insulted with a derisory offer so I'm letting the bay of e decide its fate. See what happens

Those are all fairly easy to fix:

- Coolant loss, get some special dye to source the leak.
- Headlight level sensor, front left wishbone.  Easy fix.
- Oil.  Rocker cover gaskets?

Rocker cover gasket kit, new sealing rings and the GM black sealing paste are all there ready & waiting to be fitted.

That as may be the case but in all honesty I do not have the time, money nor the patience to continue any further.  I'm getting pretty *issed off with spending money on parts and not getting any further in my pursuits. :-/ :'(

I work away all week occasionally getting back late on a Friday and leaving on a Sunday, so family quality time is precious and being under the bonnet is not really the best use of that time despite working on my cars being a favourite pastime of mine.

I'm at Prenton on the Wirral.  ;)

Somebody is coming later for the car.  :)

If all falls through with it, then I'll see what happens  :(
