i hate the omega i unfortunately own , WITH VENOM
« on: 17 July 2010, 14:06:21 »

before the omega i owned 2 mondeos , never did anything to them other than routine work for mots,so decided  to buy a "supposed " "executive type of comfort car" in the omega and what a waste of time and money it has been. i hate the thing with venom , its spent more time in the garage than in my drive . ive worked my backside off for years and thought that after years of driving mundane runabouts id try something nice , comfortable and to show for the years of hard graft.Instead im having to graft harder to pay for repairs ....every other fortnight !!!! i knew i should have stayed a Ford driver, maybe boring and plain but at least theyre more reliable than the griffin badge piece if dog droppings i have the sufference of now owning !!!!! Vauxhall ?????? never again !!!!!!!!!!!!

its using about a pint of water evry fortnight , no water in the oil or temp probs but waters going somewhere, if the head has a slight warp it would cause oil from cam cover .

everything else is fine , its just this mind numbing pocket emptying problem of the nearside cam cover not leaking but " vomiting " oil everywhere, its happening two weeks after being done an its getting worse. cover was changed last time, every other week the breathers are being checked so its NOT THAT an the next person who says "its the breathers" will be wearing them as a hat  >:( :'(   im beginning to despair

This is my second Omega and should have learrn't from the first  :-/
Mine is begining to need a few bits done and they just seem to keep coming .. a/c not working with a leak somewhere.... wishbones needing done and what a pain they seem to be trying to find somewhere to get the geometry done afterwards .... rear discs etc .
I wish i could afford to change it for something else but i cant  :'( :'( :'(

Cam cover gaskets are quite an art to get seated and sealed.  If someone is putting them on without special care, they will leak like mad.  I'm not going to say "breathers" because mine were absolutely spotless when my gaskets filled the plug-holes with oil.

As for water leak; the oil-cooler is my main suspect if you can't see water under the car.  The trouble is the water sits in the "V" and evaporates with engine heat.

I would NOT suspect warped head.

I've had both these problems and sorted them myself.  They should stay done if correctly tackled.

I hope you solve it.

How does this sound. Buy some new genuine gaskets and bring the car to me, i'll fit them and if it cures the leak then you can pay me, if it doesn't cure the leak there will be no charge ;)
