Bosal exhausts
« on: 28 June 2010, 09:05:55 »

Anyone on here had experiences of these systems?

Will be looking to replace mine 'cat back' soon, and my local chap (who sells only Bosal), has 'em in stock for a price that's very comparable to genuine Vx.

Am tempted to support the local guy ..........

Worth checking http://www.eternalcar.com first, IMHO.

I did the same B - I always try to support local traders and in this case, I did so by fitting a Bosal system from the 'cat' back.

The difference in quality between this system and the GM system (the good one) it replaced, is marked.

The Bosal seems to be of lighter construction and is without doubt nosier.

The system is on about a year and I'm taking it off to be replaced by either an Eternal system or one from the Polish guys on eBay (I'll find the link shortly)

That is after I do the climate condenser and the cam belt of course. ;D :-/ :y

I wouldn’t have a Bosal system again. :(

Just to add, the Eternal systems aren't quite as refined as the OEM systems but main dealer systems are now not OEM quality either. Eternal represents about the best quality you can expect from a "Factor" exhaust at about the lowest cost you'll find, hence my recommendation.

They are every bit as solid as the OEM system though, IMHO.

Normally delivered from Germany in 2-3 days from order.

The Eternal Car systems are now double skinned too, (unlike the main dealer ones).

I have one on my Elite, and it is excellent

Bosal's quite good IMO

I must have fitted 100 or so Bosal systems in the past and haven't got that many complaints.

Had you fitted mine Woody, I'm afraid you would have had a complaint about both the noise and quality of the Bosal product.

The difference between the Bosal and the original GM systems was marked.  In addition the Bosal didn't fit very well - to the point where the steel 'tickling stick' was brought into play to encourage the marriage of various parts.

I'm also disappointed about being disinclined to support my local trader (for this requirement), who only seems to stock these systems, as they are really quite competent in most of their services offered.

The advantage of supporting local traders is of course the customer service that can generally be expected from them.  In this case I was more than satisfied as the exhaust centre offered to replace the system without question with another Bosal and went as far as to try to locate a system from a different manufacturer.  An offer I declined as the car wasn’t – and isn’t - used that much and I thought I could live with the perceived problem – a notion that turned out to be quite incorrect. ;D ;D

I had a Bosal fitted last year and I have to agree it sounds very harsh. I also had to have it resealed at 9 months, I might be wrong but the joint between centre and rear almost seemed too short so they were having to pull it into place to get a fit. (It wasn't the fitter, he was very good and knew exactly how to coax out the stuck solid cat bolts on initial fit)

The cat section on my 2.2 is a Bosal, and pretty much without warning the little 'flexi' part sheared in two :o on Thursday evening.

I didn't notice it being extra noisy or blowing before hand although it must have been I guess, but the way it fell appart looked like someone had just taken a hacksaw to it.

Thank god me and my mate are good at bodging with a welder and scrounging exhaust pipe from the local fitters :y

Of the lower cost pattern parts, I would happily go eternal again.  Does seem to be much quieter than the bosal ones that turn up here, which are often noisy on cruising.

Defo not up to the quality of the original fit, but I'd say on a par with the current system GM sell.

Eternal system put on mine a couple of days ago, went on perfectly and quiet as a mouse (compared to what it was like before) - even got a nice twin-pipe back box, very happy  :y :y :y
