senator gets some much needed attention
« on: 30 June 2007, 22:29:05 »

did a lot of work on the Senator this weekend, it did need looking at.

Firstly replaced the exhaust, as some will know it was making a groove down the the road when i went on a holiday with some mates, thanks to Hotel21 and the excellent lakes meet I acquired a new cat back system for the 24v at a very reasonable price!

Fitting it went very well, thanks to Jaime for helping me fit it on his driving way. Also thanks to Omegatoy, a quick call to him put some fears at rest. The old system just dropped off, the mid section was for a 12v, and had a 24v back box.

Now with propper cat back 24v on, it feels a lot better. Although lost some of the deep down noise  :(

Also replaced the waterpump!  :D - Again big thanks for the help and much needed advice from omegatoy, great guy thanks!  :y

I also made my own gasket out of gasket paper which was fun, no major leaks yet and seams to be water tight. A long run tomorrow should confirm this.

So its almost ready now, for a someone shortened trip to the land of Europe.

Bugger, forgot the TC card for you...   ...as said run for a day or 2 to check no leaks, then show some antifreeze in.  Looks like your gasket will hold though :y

Now cut that grass before mummy and daddy get back ;)

Pound to a pinch of brown stuff you will need to order check strap repair kit (it was the repair kit, not the strap he needed? Surely he can make them?)

:)MANY years ago i made a waterpump gasket from a cornflake box for a 1600 x-flow mk2 'tina est. Plenty of red hermatite & it did'nt leak til i put water in it!!!
I then bought a universal gasket where you rip off the bits you do'nt want which did the job.
Can you still get those uni gaskets or just for classics now? [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

The 12v centre section won't have helped gas flow!
Once the engine has figured out it can breathe properly again you should certainly notice an improvement in performance. :)

Might be worth running a proper flush through the cooling system - didn't look particularly clean in there.
