Fitting 215/55/16 is this possible.?
« on: 30 July 2010, 14:44:25 »

Hi peeps.

Im looking at getting a couple of new tyres for my MOT and ive been offerd some 215/55/16"s,the wheels currently have 225/55/16 fitted.

Would there be any issues with putting the 215"s on in place of 225.

If thats ok what would be best...215"s on front with 225"s on rear or vice versa.

Much thanks

Tim

I had 215's on my elite and they were fine, not sure about different widths on the front but it wouldn't bother me doing it myself.

They will physically fit and the difference is not great but I wouldn't mix them in case the ABS system takes exception to the difference in diameter.

In addition, you might land yourself in trouble with your insurance company if anything happens as the tyres would not be of the manufacturer's specification.

You don't say what the speed rating of the tyres is. That's important too.  ;)

Thanks for the replies.

Omegod i was looking at having same size tyres on each axle but wasnt sure if 215 front was better than rear.

Kevin its just for the MOT really...then i can pick up some tyres next wekk or two when funds allow...not sure of the speed rating. :-[

Del boy you slipped in like a cloaked ninja as i was replying too the other two guys....thanks. :y
