Copy stuff you send to the DVLA
« on: 09 August 2010, 21:55:33 »

I converted my car to LPG, and sent my V5 in to be modified. I also sent in a load of photos to show the conversion. Oh no, being Civil servants, they don't believe photos, they needed an inspection report, the original of course. So I duly sent in my COP11 inspection, which was a silly thing to do.

A couple of months later, a call appeared on my wife's answerphone ( why not mine ?), saying to call the DVLA. No contact name or direct phone no, just call them. So I did. It took 11 mins to get through, which on PAYG is expensive, only to be told, they didn't know why I was called, my new V5 would be sent back soon. And my inspection report I added. Oh no, they said, the person scanning it thought it was a copy, so destroyed it. I managed to avoid insulting their parents, and said I wanted a copy of the scan. It arrived and its crap, done by someone with no brains at all, the front page is squint so half its missing, and a good part of the the second page is visible.

This is still on going, they want me to go and get another report on my time, avoiding any unecessary cost of course, as they are the civil service.

Jus think these clowns get an inflation linked pension, after having screwed up for years. :'( :'(

I took mine in to Thornaby DVLA Office nearly 2 weeks ago, still no new V5 yet! :-/
Also, SAGA is taking the pith, as I notified them by telephone that I was lpg'ing the car but Certificates were no longer being issued by LPGA as a new system was now in operation with a National Database.

(them)...'Just let me check with the Underwriting Dept. Sir' she said,.... 'that's ok, just let us know when it's been done & send in the Compliance Letter from the System Inspector, there is no extra loading on your Premium, just a £10 admin. charge, she said'.

(me) Oh goody! (or words to that effect) ;D

Covering letter & copy of said Compliance duly sent, heard nothing further, so rang them last wednesday,

(them)...'Oh, the Underwriters say that you need a LPGA Certificate!',

(me)...No, i've been through all that with so & so',

....After about 5 minutes she came back on,

(them)... ' The Underwriter says that system doesn't come into operation until 1st. September!'

(me)...that's what it says on the LPGA website too, but nevertheless, it has been in operation for at least a month, why not confirm it with the LPGA & the people who did the Inspection?

..... another 5 minutes go by....

(them)...'The Underwriters will call you within 48 hours, is there another vehicle in your household?....

(me) Yes, my son has his own car... what has that to do with my query? ...

(them)... I was merely asking in case we could quote him for a Policy?'....

loooong pause!

(me)...You do have my details there don't you?....

(them)... Yes!....

(me)...then you know that I am 57 years of age, & you only take customers over 50 I believe?

(them)... that's correct, is there a problem?..

(me)... There may be I said, I wasn't consorting with females at age 7!!! and last birthday my wife reminded me our son was now 32?!!!

(them)... Click............ ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

And I still haven't had a call from the bloody Underwriters! at this rate the Undertaker will be calling first!!! :-/ ;D
