At last engine management light stays off!!!
« on: 11 August 2010, 20:56:27 »

bought a cheap (at the time) 03 omega 3.2 elite as it had the spec i wanted

engine man light came on the day after changed timing belt n water pump - mech noticed the fan not working so went to vauxhall n ordered rad thermostat - then the rad started to leak so got a new rad too n re-antifreezed it
then noticed the air con fans not working so got it regassed and electrician sorted it - then got new tyres, then got another water leak - thermostat housing had been botched by some div so needed new one plus thermostat and oil cooler radiator - n/s cylinder head corroded so got good one and replaced - well over 1.5k now spent just on parts. All cooling system ok now - still had engine man light on?? Replaced Lambor sensors on exhaust - still came on - asked for price on the n/s cat as that was the duff cylinder head side - got quoted over 1100 pounds for one side to be ordered from germany!!! Found 2nd hand one in Ireland on ebay - got both sides in mint condition for £200 and fitted - NOW ITS GONE OFF!!!

UNBELEIVABLE costs - but it drives so nice now - has anyone else had such problems?????

PS - on the ramp found the O/S rear shock leaking - anyone know where to get some good ones as i understand they are fancy ones?? Any advice appreciated!!

Yes. the elite has self levelling rear suspension . Normal operation shockers that also have an air valve . There is a compressor located under the front RHS wing that pumps them up according to a sensor.
You don't say whether it is a saloon or estate. They are different.

You can only get them from VX and the £150 is trade club price. Over the counter is significantly more.

About now you may be thinking I will disconnect it and just use std none Elite shockers or aftermarket like KYB.

Some do. There are loads of threads on this forum about the subject. Have a "search".

Wow, strongly suggest asking on here before doing anything with work on the car. Also search pre cat code. And see the guide in maintanance section re moving the lambda's.  :-X

See code reading also, clean the breathers etc etc, time to move on to preventative and well guided maintenance.

If your stuck for a reasonable mechanic and need help, update your profile with a rough location and someone near may well help out, Darth loo knee, Elite Pete to name but two.

Stick around, will pay in the long run

Ps, see link below door trade club card etc
