Wow! The multiram really does work!
« on: 20 August 2010, 14:22:15 »

So my friend has a Catera as well... a '97. His has been fairly reliable aside from a oil cooler failure and a cracked valve cover. However yesterday he came over to to complain that the car doesn't feel as quick as it used to be.

Being that I've never driven my Catera, I wouldn't know how it was supposed to feel, so he let me take it for a drive. Sadly I was highly unhappy with how sluggish it was (I knew something was wrong)... so we got back to my house and I snooped around under the hood. Upon searching, I found that 2 plastic vacuum lines had snapped on the multiram and wasn't allowing it to work right. So I repaired it with some extra lines I had from many past GMs I've owned and took it for a drive.

All I can say is wow! I really can't believe how well that stupid multiram system works! I always thought of it as a gimmick, and even wanted to delete mine, but it obviously modifies the torque curve...you can feel it transitioning around 4000rpms. Anyways he went from a 9.5 0-60mph to a 8 flat 0-60mph. Awesome!
