Going to alter my irmscher double exit exhaust rear silencer,( its a one D exit either side of the number plate job) to allow a tow bar  :-/

Or get it altered I should say, and there is the question, who should I engage to do the work? Any recommendations? There is a long life in basingstoke, but i've seen one of their systems and was not too impressed, but then it's only an alteration which won't be seen as the affected area is behind the bumper.

Tow bar is removable swan neck type and will involve cutting the bumper obviously but I have a plan for that.

Any thoughts?

These guys made the can on the Westfield. They have all the pipe bending gear to do bespoke jobs. They know how to charge, but their work is 8-).

Are you sure there'll be enough room behind the bumper for the driver's side pipe as well as the bracket the swan neck fastens too? I don't know what make of bar you have, but my current Westfalia detachable & the previous fixed Bosal swan neck  both have/had a similar bracket to this on eBay

It's exactly that style Andy, and no there isn't room, so exhaust link pipe needs altering to run round the back of the swan neck, or however they want to do it.

Possibly, there is room to go over the top of the swan neck as well, its the join in the link pipe that's the problem iirc, it's dead centre in line with the back of the swan neck, if the joining bracket was moved off centre and the pipe ovalised that may be enough, will need to discuss it with them, maybe they'll make up a heat shield as well as I don't have one, although i've left the car ticking over for over an hour and the tank does not get hot, but better safe.

Yes I've checked after a spirited drive and it's no warmer, I guess the added air flow takes the heat away, they should be able to ovalise the pipe so the back edge of the exhaust is no nearer than stock, or re route it over the top. We'll see...

Especially full chat followed by a buttock-clenching stop and traffic jam.

Might be worth wrapping the exhaust and putting a heat shield between it and the tank.

It's going to be tight, though, I would have thought. :-/
