doughnut bushes
« on: 27 August 2010, 00:38:10 »

last night i fitted new bushes. Not as bad a job as i thought it would be, got them out with a chisel to start with then a big screw driver, got it between lip of bush and just levered them out. Had car on ramps, no need to take wheels off. The worst bit of the job was getting the bolt to line up that goes in the bush, you need to rock car back and too but took me ages to suss this out. I read on the forum on how to do them which was a big help but i dont agree with the way the the bush goes back in. It says to have the slots to the front and back but on my car the old ones had the slots to the side? Anyway its made a big improvement to the car, the tramlining has gone and no more creeking noises from subframe. A job well worth doing. :y

When I wrote some of the guide the orientation seemed important as when I first fitted mine I paid no attention to the position of the slots, I just wacked em in. Later felt the car was still wondering so repositioned them. It felt better.

However we did The Boys a couple of weekends ago, and the solid section seemed to point more at the dif, so we replicated that.  :-/
