*IF* it is the same engine as in the Corsa VXR, then the lag is awful.  Spritely when it boosts (the lighter Corsa), unsure of how well it will perform in the heavier Insignia.  I hate Turbo engines with a passion.  You have to drive them with precision at all times.  A decent engine with decent displacement and you get caught out at low revs, the thing will still pull.  A Turbo engine with smaller displacement will just do nothing. lol

Seconded, I think this will be compounded by the weight of Insignia compared to Corsa. I've never driven an Insignia, nor the one you mention, but with this IMO inappropriate engine I wouldn't want to. But then again i prefer low down torque, where i suppose you'd have to make the engine scream all the time to get the best out of 1.6T Insignia

It's a controversial subject, especially as most of us drive reasonably powerful Auto's.  A Turbo advocate will completely blame our driving, and claim we cant drive for toffee, but the actual reality is, if we owned and became used to driving a turbo engine, we would adapt and never/hardly ever lose the 'boost'.  Like I said in my earlier reply, a turbo car has to be driven with 'precision' at all times.  With a nice lazy arsed Omega Auto, you can drive it in any manner you like, then the second you hit the carpet, the car will go.

I know which I prefer... especially seeing as these smaller cubic capacity turbo petrol cars are terrible on fuel.

depends on your criteria.. if you are after comfort only, omega is better ..  but if you are after performance 1.6T is slightly faster than my 2.5 v6..
but not comparable with 3.0 or 3.2.. check 2.0T imo..

I must add though, turbo part will cause problems when the car gets relatively old.. have seen some 1.6t with turbo problems in service..
