Busy Day today
« on: 01 September 2010, 19:36:19 »

Been busy today... decided I should start working through the box of bits in preparation for the road trip. Cleaned up the body earth point, changed wiper blades, Plugs (see LPG users thread), Air and Pollen Filters (oil and filter change to follow), Front Discs and Pads and fitted wear sensors which have never been fitted in the time I've owned it, and replaced the blown bulb in the Dash Illumination... That was the most problematic!

Removed all the screws and vent assembly (as per the excellent guide) and started to withdraw the clocks... Disconnected the MID and removed the clocks. Changed the bulbs and refitted. Once assembled, switch on and... Nothing! All the dash lights lit up, started it and no gauges at all >:(

Removed and re-fitted clocks again... Tried it and there was some brief life but still not working >:( And to top it all off, a MID bulb has now blown >:( >:( >:(

Removed clocks again (I'm good at it now ;D), replaced the MID bulbs (luckily I was supplied the wrong bulbs for the climate panel  ;)) and look more closely at the rear of the dash clocks.... Ah, there it is, a small split in a track on the rear :o Luckily it was in a position where I could solder it without risk of shorting between tracks.

So rummage around and find my soldering iron, which was buried in a cupboard as my shed is no more, pending delivery of a bigger one ::) Repair the broken track and re-fit the clock for a final time and...

... Success :y :y :y

Just want to service the handbrake and change the oil and filter before we go now :y

Ye gods. What a lot of ground you cover in a day! You should be well placed for your forthcoming trip. Hope you have an uneventful but enjoyable one. :y

Paul, what with all the rushing around & last minute checks & adjustments, just a reminder not to forget a very important, nay, vital item for the trip...

The air freshener! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)
Good luck with the rest of the tasks on the car & we hope you have a good trip :y

Didn't really manage as much as I'd wanted as the neighbour kept disturbing me for help with things/to give me stuff he was binning ::) ::)

And as for the trip... I'm sure it'll be fine! This is more general maintenance TBH :y :y

How do you sleep at night, constantly trying to get me into trouble? ::) ::)

You're worse than that Vamps Bloke! :-X :-X :-X

Have got an A/C Bomb to stick in overnight at some point in the next 10 days or so and planning to treat the car to a Full Valet next week (although I must admit, I'm not doing it because I just don't have time :-[)
