In 1976 I moved to Shetland just in time for the coldest winter onm record. I owned a Yamaha FS1-E and drove it 17 miles from South Nesting to Lerwick everyday for work, stopping at least 3 or 4 times to defrost my gloves on the engine (with my hands stil inside) until I felt circulation again.

Jeeez! now theres a novel way of keeping the circulation!!!

The method the Police have used on AUTOMATICS is to disable the solenoid lockout on the auto selector in "park" so you cant select any gear.
Cant see any real way to appease the insurance company whatever you do though, mate.

they will use ANYTHING to avoid paying out on a claim, and once an assessor sees this little mod................. :( :(

There are plenty of coolant preheaters, had one in my transit 15yrs ago, set it to fire up at 7am Mon-Fri, engine is warm, as is cabin (turned the fans on low as well).

Much better option than remote start which is going to lead to a whole heap of insurance and missing car hassles.  For starters, all remote starts will have to disable the immobiliser. Staright away, your policy is invalid.
