Spec levels for facelift go like this, lowest - highest.

GLS - 2.0/ 2.2/ 2.2 DTi/ 2.5/ 2.6
Sport - 2.2
CD - 2.0/ 2.2/ 2.2 DTi/ 2.5/ 2.6
CDX - 2.0/ 2.2/ 2.2 DTi/ 2.5/ 2.6
MV6 - 2.6/ 3.2
Elite - 2.2 DTi/ 3.0/ 3.2

2.5 V6 CD cost when new was - £19,195 for the manual
£20,195 for the auto.

Nope, auto was only standard on the 3.2 Elite IIRC  :y

That's the base price though, if yours had other options fitted, it'll have been more than that  :y

I should say though, in Elites' auto was the same price as the manual, I think.

3.2 auto was only available to Joe Pubic, only Plod had the option of a manual 3.2
Other Elites, as did the Senator before it, came with a proper gearbox as standard, manual was a no cost option ...... I believe  ::)

I want an auto BMW next, always have one car I maily drive around in, and the BMW is manual, but auto next, this comes from driving a C-class and e-classes around all the time. I will always stick by manuals are much better, but I'm getting to that age now, where I want a comfy armchair and only need to move one leg.

Much better?  :-/ At what?  :-/ Maybe in a proper sports car.  ;)
If you only want to move one leg ( I have a brake foot & a seperate throttle foot) then surely an auto is 'much better'  :y  :y  :y

Always have and still do prefer a manual, they're quicker, it changes when I know best not when the car thinks it knows best. My left leg is redundant in an auto.
