Hi,

Have now got all my parts except springs and shocks ready to give the omega a winter overhaul. My omega, being ex plod with xenons, will, I presume, have self levelling rear shocks? Do KYB do a set to match the police spec springs/shocks or is it back to standard? Im not paying for genuine items as they are daft money.

Any opinions/recommendations welcome

Only some V6 Special estate's had self levelling, I've never seen a V6 Special saloon with self levelling. I believe yours came from Bedfordhsire, which again didn't have self levelling rear on their saloons.
I think either 'normal' or 'heavy duty' would be what you're after.

Afaik, kyb only do stock springs, and self levelling rear springs for elites. I know for certain they do not do lowered sports chassis for the face lift. So fair bet they don't do the specialist plod stuff I would think.

Suspect a good first step would be to visit the dealer and find out exactly what's fitted from the parts man first off. Then find out what the trade club price is, Andyc on here can help if you don't have trade club access.....in fact, he is probably your best bet tbh.

If tc prices are too steep I fear it's a case finding cheap parts, or second hand. Bilstein and stienmetz ain't cheap either. :-/

If there is an air line connection to the rear shocks then they are self levelling.

Easily overcome, particularly if fitting lowered springs, by removing relay from fusebox.

Bilstein B4 shocks and Eibach -40 or -50 mm springs work well.....

Bilstein b4's look the dogs, money for them isn't too bad. On balancemotorsports website they have Eibach springs as well but the kit they have is just a standard height kit, worth going for this or lower?

Sadly won't be there, omega is currently off the road to get wishbones, full suspension, rear bushes and new aircon condensor fitted so using my landcruiser the now. What do you have fitted? Im more than happy with the standard set up, just wondering whats gained/lost with lowered kit

B4 and Eibach -50's.....  Handles quite well.

Not convinced they actualy achieve a 50mm drop.

Perhaps not, master, but they certainly are lower than the standard MV6 setup.  Box says -50 so not really able to argue much further than that?  You are able to get 3/4 fingers between wheel and rear arch on JB's and Bob Dents cars but mine, not a one....

I suspect I know the answer but what would be the effect of fitting lowered springs but keeping the self levellers?

I'm not entirely sure what route to go yet as I have a pair of front B4's with 500 miles on them that I need to remove from my CDX before scrapping.

Also why do people rate the B4 so much, I just thought they were the straight replacement and the B6/B8 was the sports upgrade?

I believe the B4 give a better ride, regarding height, -30 might be best for me, lots of speed bumps around here, will see what balancemotorsport recommend as i've sent them an inquiry
