Xenon bulbs
« on: 20 September 2010, 10:22:07 »

One of my xenons looks a redish purpley colour one is still blue, is this going to be a new bulb? How much if it is? Also are they easy to change?

yup, sounds like on its way out.

from £20 - £160 a pair!

I would always do both for colour match

I would but phillips or osram over chinese ones.

headlights out, or move airbox / battery

Ok :) Mark you're a clever man, they look a blue colour in there now, but the ones I've ordered are 6000k, but they say they're diamond White will they still be slightly blue?

IMHO 6000K is to far into the Chav spectrum, they will be pretty blue (maybe to much so).

I find 4000K to 5000K is about optimum and above this you loose detail and brightness as a trade off for 'cool blue'

See why do they say Diamond White? Stupid if you ask me, I wanted them quite blue anyway though.

The original BMW fit would have been around the 4K region (most OEM is 4100K)

Its dependent on if you want the best lights for driving or the most chavvy look.

The 6000K will give the chavvy blue look at the expense of the optimal useable driving light output.  :y

Yeah BMW fit 4300k, they told me on the phone that 6000k wouldnt really notice a difference, 8000 & 10,000k you would notice them giving out a lot less light.

Guys I don't know if this makes the slighted bit of difference, but the bulb that is purple is blue when you turn it on, then it slowly goes purple, is this the bulb or something else?
