I've never bothered with the suspension tests.  anything 'FREE' has a hidden agenda.

I did (for a laugh) take my Cavalier into a local Formula1 Garage for a 'Free Brake Test' approximately 12 minutes after it sailed through an MOT.

4 Months previous, I had fitted new pads, discs, brake hoses and complete fluid flush.

The friendly employee at Formula1, who thoroughly tested the braking system by holding a lead-lamp up to the wheel suggested I needed new discs as mine were "warped" and "badly grooved".  He continued "Your Pads look fine, but when changing Discs, we have to replace the pads as it's false economy not to".  This I agree with, but since the car had covered all of 500miles in last four months (100 miles of that ended approximately 18minutes previous to this), I tend to disagree.

Obviously, the pads, discs, brake pipes, brake lines, servo, master cylinder, calipers, even the rather rubber on the pedal were in excellent shape.

Still, as to carry on the 'laugh' I asked for a quote.

Front Discs, £150 odd quid.  Pads a whopping £60.

I booked the car in for the following day (they were too busy ripping others off that afternoon, so sent me on my way with "VERY DANGEROUS BRAKES").......... did I turn up?  Did I Flux.
