Lexus IS200 Insurance
« on: 28 September 2010, 21:19:17 »

Any idea on what the insurance would be for say a 17 year old on a Lexus IS200, my youngest (16) went out with my eldest and his mate earlier, he's got an IS200, how much could I find insurance for? Difficult I know.

If it's 2000 ish roughly per year, he shouldn't be too bothered, he should be going to work at my eldests place, that'll get him around £1300 a month, but it's like I've said to him I'll buy the car, you do the rest, I've told him I highly doubt he'll get insured on one anyway.

That was through gocompare, and it comes up with some company I have never heard of for that much. Cheapest known company was Tesco's I think at about £1200.

We do have a reasonable post code when it comes to insurance, we are about 8 miles form the city center, and the undesirable type people seem to leave us alone  :y

I used to pay £340 per month for 6 months on a 2.2 CDX (group 13) then after 6 months paid £120 per month with elephant.co.uk. No idea what group an IS200 is in, but I would imagine similiar...so it's do-able.

Forgot to mention that was two years ago when I was 18. I have trade insurance, but if I privately insured my 2.6 it's not that bad really.

IS200 is in group 12. If he can get this job, then I think he could be lucky. That's good to know actually Josh, his birthday isn't until May, but I'll probably find and buy one before then so he can have a play and get used to it etc.

Also due to not being 18, most insurance companies wont let him pay monthly.

What happens if he adds his mum as a named driver? (not policy holder as most do) sounds funny I know but mine dropped £100

Even if I add my missus as a named driver, she hasnt even passed her test it dropped by £10! :)
