Knew I shouldn't have sold the Omega!

Anyway for my sins I now have a Signum CDTi, and it seems to have a problem, I think with the brakes.

All of the discs get very hot after a short journey, say around 3 miles. Infact I did a journey of only 1 mile today and they were very hot, and I didn't do any heavy braking either. They are getting so hot that one in particular OSR discs I can smell burning.

What can be wrong?
After a long journey, about a month ago they never got anywhere near as hot as this, because I tried them, as i do every now and then just to make sure nothing binding.

Was it stood for a while before you got it? I'd guess that the calipers have partially seized on causing extra friction and heating things up. If you coast on level ground does the speed drop quite quickly?

Had the car 3 months now and it's used everyday. Ok when I bought it, brakes worked fine, discs have never got this hot before, as I know of. Just the smell of burning/hot smell when I got out the car at work the other night.
I can push the car easily engine running or off, so it doesn't seem to be binding brakes somewhere.

Someone at work mentioned something about the master cylinder could be faulty, or ABS problem.

That's the first place I would look, brakes are binding, seized sliders or piston/s depending on the signum set up....but more than one corner is odd...?

If it's mostly the rear could the hand brake be adjusted too tight? How many clicks until it bites?

Did a little test on the way home from work this morning. Never touched the brakes on the journey for two miles, except when I coasted to a halt. The discs  were more or less cold, so not binding. Continued my journey, another two miles driving normally and when I got home they were warm, but not hot.
So I can say they are not binding.
I will jack the car up this weekend and inspect the pads and give em a good clean up.
Over on the Vec forum they mention sliders with a rubber boot for the pads. They say these can get corroded easily, so need cleaning. Don't know what they mean till I check em out.
