My car badly needs a respray, and I have bought hopefully all the paint stuff I need, etch primer, primer, base coat and lacqer, along with all the hardeners, thinners, anti fish eye drops etc. Unfortunately the weather doesn't seem to be looking good for a long while. Is this right?. Suppose we got a couple of dry days would it be OK to spray it?. I read somewhere that damp days make the paint cloud, so would we need several days to dry out? Are there any preparitory jobs I could be doing, eg etch primer?

No reason why you can't prep it, but i certainly wouldn't be putting any final coats on in this weather, i take it you are talking about doing it outside  :question damp conditions can cause all sorts of reactions  :-/

I have access to a small factory unit, but there is no heating, and I would have to use fan heaters etc, not propane of course which I understand put more water vapour into the air!

I was a vehical refinisher many moons ago, I would certainly wait until the humidity drops before re-painting, to remedy all the things that could go wrong with the final coats could amount to an awful lot of work and expence. Concentrate on getting all your prep "blob on" whilst you wait for the weather to improve.The end result will look far better for it. we all like to put the paint in the gun ASAP but to get a good finish good prep is the answer
