yes i know ive posted about this before! COOLANT

Done a coolant change about 2 weeks ago, i have gone out everyday and checked for any leaks and i just canot find anything anywhere, my car drives ok, still pretty smooth, though maybe a lot of exhaust smoke at the rear, but that could be just coz its cold?
anyway, driving her down to Southampton yesterday, the cars been used everyday for the last 2 weeks, and now back up with the dash saying "coolant level low"
i will keep on driving her, but i will top up coolant level again, it loses probably about an inch or two of the red stuff,  praying to god its not the head gasket! and before any of you shout, i just dont know what else it could be? im worried about taking it to ANY Garage just incase i get the usual "weve run a test and the whatever they use changed colour?"

As before, doubt its HG on 2.5.

More likely weeping from somewhere - HBV, cooler plate, stat, rad are all candidates...

Best way is to whip of plenum etc, make up a special cap, pressurise system to about 8psi (MAX!!), and inspect.

If you feel thats beyond you, I have personally seen Darth Loo-knee's work, and would recommend him, and have heard good things about Welung666.

Darth Loo-knee does do mobile mechanic work.

I was going to suggest the filler cap, because last time I changed mine I found the rubber washer had split.

Mmmmmmmm.....

guys, i dont think im going insane! but i noticed the coolant does drop MORE when i have the heating on, now its cold in the winter, its up hot quite a lot of the time....
had a look this morning around the engine and on the floor and header cap etc, cant see any red stuff leaks, the level of coolant seems as it was when i topped it up a few days ago, but it might do its normal thing and drop by next week, have had a HBV fitted about 5 months ago, so cant be that, i think i might take it to darthlooknee soon!  ;)

Why not? :-? Just cos a part is new doen't mean it works. It also depends whether new GM part or new pattern part.  :y  :y
