What to replace with wishbones?
« on: 23 November 2010, 23:20:39 »

Hi,

Am going to get my new suspension fitted next week and get the wishbones done at the same time, what else do I need to replace at the same time? Had seen a link to control arms? Idler has already been replaced

Cheers,
Iain

Drop links, track rods, ARB bushes and donut bushes should all be checked and replaced if necessary.  :y

Only really leaves the steering side of the job at the front, so track rod ends, centre tie rod assembly but only if there is play they are expensive, and steering idler you've done.

Could do wheel barings if there is any play.

If your re using your old top shock mount assembly make sure there's no play at the top of the shock before you remove it, and grease the baring while it's apart, they don't seem to fail so re using should be fine.

Anti roll bar has no affect on set up as such, but always worth checking anyway.

Rear donut bushes as said, check the rear bush blocks at rear of dif aren't de laminated, and that there is no play in the trailing arm bushes, which I guess is easiest to do with the springs out.

If you want to do the rear anti roll bar bushes these are best done while the springs are out and the dif dropped as the guide. Also check rear wheel barings and pray they aren't failed. Nightmare job to replace.
