Vivaro 1.9CDTi non-starter & fault codes.
« on: 24 November 2010, 07:56:16 »

Called out this morning to an 04 plate Vivaro 1.9CDTi that wouldn't start. Stored codes are:-

P1635 Glow Plug Controller Error
P181A ??????
P0530 A/C Boost Pressure Valve
P1635 again???

Warm engine, just wouldn't restart. Anyone any ideas on the 181A code and a reason for non starting?

I suspected cam sensor as they are a favourite on these but no code showing for it.

TIA, confused of Dudley :y

Just googled the P181A code and nothing listed for Vx. Found it on a Ford forum though - P181A Clutch Actuator Changeover Solenoid / Open. Very odd indeed.

OK, just to close this one....

He had taken it to a back street garage to diagnose a revving problem (revs raising to 1k then dropping to nearly stalling). They told him he'd need a new number 1 injector @ £330!

Turns out they'd stripped the injector loom back to investigate and not refitted the cam sensor plug fully!!! Useless to$$ers!!! A bit of switch cleaner and fully push the plug home and it fired straight up ;) I also fixed the revs problem, the usual corroded multi-plug in the passenger side fuse box :y
