Elite vs MV6
« on: 11 December 2010, 18:09:33 »

I'm after either of these car and whilst I'm aware of the kit that comes with the Elite models, I'm totally unaware of what the spec list of the MV6.

Are they a 'hot' version of the Omega?

facelift or pre?

facelift i can help you with:
ordinary seats, heated front and rear
17" flat-face alloys
self-levelling rear shocks
bose sound system
sunroof
wood effect trim
rear blind

MV6:
slightly sportier 17" alloys
recaro sports seats with leg supports
aluminium trim
standard sound system
prodrive front bumper (both elite and mv6 have prodrive spoiler)
earlier facelift mv6 had no sunroof
sportier suspension

probably missed something!

This is another thread that could last forever ;D ;D ;D

Again it is personal preference...

I have owned MV6's as I prefer the stiffer ride and the seating.. they go aswell as each other just for me the elite is to boaty :y so I spent a small fortune on Mrs. Loo-knee's elite suspension to get it to ride exactly as I like :y

Interested in the facelift models.

I know its personal preference, I just wanted to know the difference in equipment and what the MV6 came with as standard. What about satnav, are they standard on either?

So does the Elite come with more goodies than the MV6?

I created this basic guide to model variations with the DBW Engines...
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1266867411

If you list the things you want, I'm sure we could guide you to the correct spec levels.

I always thought of the MV6 as CD-CDX kind-of level, in terms of 'rank'. Of course nothing is cast in stone, and there are trim variations etc.. so not sure if there'll ever be a definitive answer as to which is 'better' than which. A personal preference thing, really.

Elite definitely has more kit, plenty of little toys the MV6 doesnt have. Blind, electric seats, autodip mirror(i think?!)leather (leather MV6 recaro extra-cost option) Will dig out my brochures later if SMD is still wanting that definitive answer. Here to help  ;D

Well the MV6s have the same engines as other Omegas. As far as I'm aware the only difference in the mechanics and driving experience is the suspension and handling. My MV6 is alot firmer than my Elite, but still comfortable. I can still throw the Elite round though and it copes well. It's not so good on undulating dual carriageways at 80+, it seems to bounce alot.

I always thought leather was an option on the elite.

Having said that about the suspension, given the choice i'd rather have the Elite, even though i agree it is abit boaty. Despite it being auto and allegedly slower than a manual, i still prefer driving it.

I have checked both multi rams on both cars, both working OK, but when the Elite hits 4100 rpm it's off like shit off a shovel, whereas the power delivery in the mv6 doesn't seem as good. i know that shouldn't be the case as the engines are the same though.

I once read somewhere that the MV6 was for people who wanted the performance of the Elite without the toys (and expense) of the Elite. I don't think the MV6 was much cheaper though.

Thanks for the reply josh, exactly what I was after. I might take you up on your offer DBG.  ;)

I think I have whittled down my wants and needs to only Elite 3.2 although I would like one with satnav. Is this standard on 3.2?

Haha. You've whittled it down to the highest spec, most expensive Omega, with the biggest engine, have you?

Was that a hard decision, may I ask? ;)

And NCDC 2013 wth Sat Nav standard on 3.2 V6  :y When the 3.2 came in my2001, they seemed to pitch it as a slight 'cut-above' a 'normal' Elite, so a 2.6 V6 Elite wont have SatNav (well, not as standard, at any rate)

Not at all.  ;D  I really wanted wingmans 3.2 Elite but I had already agreed to buy a 3.0 Elite from Elite Pete and I didn't want to let him down. That fell though and by then the 3.2 Elite had already sold. Gutted

Could I buy the newer 3.2 Elites with the new style wheels for £2.5k?

Facelift MV6 'toys' are similar to facelift CD, though does have the subtly stiffer suspension setup, and HIDs

Prefacelift MV6, as above, except closer to CDX spec

More toys in the elite, better ride in the mv6, so being a cake and eat it type of guy, I choose to build me own "mv6 Elite" by fitting mv6 suspension to the elites toys, if you see what I mean. Sprinkle some  irmscher  a touch of LPG, and maybe a large dollop of v8 just to top it off.  Good pud  ;D

...and by "build my own", obviously that's with a lot of help from people here, whoops.  :-[
