That's very good, I wish I got that, what do you get round town? It would have to be low to mid thirties for me to give up the v6!

You may give up the V6. Do you REALLY want me to tell you?

Put me out my misery, err, or in my misery depending on how you look at it!

To put you into/out off your misery.

Around town he returns a respectable 42 to the gallon :)

That's crazy!! You must drive like a grannie!

That's amazing though really. I'm sure someone on OOf once said that the diesels don't return much more mpg than the v6s?

I hit 1500 rpm & change gear. The turbo's not even spinning up at that. So i guess i do drive like a grannie ;D

20 ish from the Elite (auto), and 27 ish from the MV6 (manual). The Elite gets the most use though, I can't be doing with that funny third pedal.

I could only ever drive a diesel manual. I know it's wrong, but the MV6 doesn't seem to have as much torque as the Elite, I've really got to give it some to go anywhere, which is why I prefer the Elite, it's for winners.

Mr's VXL V6's estate doesn't really get chance to warm up on her daily commute so doesn't seem to better much more than 36 mpg, however, when I ran it for six months I was doing more miles in it and was around the 38 mpg mark.

The Elite seems to fair a bit better at around 40 mpg and seems a bit more lively as well. The estate has done 130K and the Elite has done 132K.

What really impresses me though is that the Estate can effortlessly tow a 1200Kg Caravan and be loaded up with two gas bottles and all the gear required when we move the caravan and use no more fuel than when it's unladden, i'm guessing the slower more constant speeds help.

The real eye opener is when you have a full tank of fuel and drive at the national speed limit consistently and the range sits at 650+.......

That's pretty good as a standard motor. Did you ever find some pipe to do a cat removal?
As you're aware Andy, Burts been remapped & he only has one silencer on the exhaust ;D
It makes for some suprizing perfomance & mpg.
Next is a bigger intercooler that's not positioned in such a stupid place >:( >:( I'd like to know what VX where thinking with that one :-/ :-?

Nope, still haven't sorted the pipe for the de-cat  :'( i'll have to get the caliper out and measure the OD of the pipe already on the vehicle so I can order something with the correct ID..... I might ask Santa ;D

The performance difference between the estate and the saloon I am putting down to a collapsing Cat, I reckon that would also tie in with why it runs a little hotter.

Yes I was rather surprised to see the intercooler there, presumably the 2.5 TD has the same setup?
