Winter tyre stock
« on: 14 December 2010, 11:02:36 »

For those member having trouble getting winter tyres we do have stock. The price is the best i can do for members since the UK allocation is depleted so we're all getting done over  :(

225/55-16 Cooper £145 each inc

if your on 235/45-17 you need to change to 245/45-17, we have Avon £150 each inc.

Other sizes are out there but the prices are ridiculous.

Hope this helps

Having just read in the Sunday Times that insurers are charging EXTRA for drivers who notify them that they have fitted winter tyres, I am flummoxed! :o :-/ ::)

No surprise there then. Cynically, my judgement was that they would say"Modified your car? Gimme more money!" >:( >:( >:(

At no point will i suggest our stock is the cheapest in the land, tyres in general have gone up 1/3 this year and winter tyres are stupid dear.

The UK allocation was sold last month so the current dribble is riding the high price wave. Trust me peeps i am not making a killing on the supply, i'm only suggesting there is a supply if needed.

Generally all 4, unlike chains/socks (driven wheels only)

All four..... There's no point in gaining drive only to find you can't turn.

Unless you're a high mileage driver, is there any real justification in going to the expense of having a set of winter tyres as opposed to all year round tyres?  :-/
I've never used them personally so don't know how much of an advantage they may or may not be - do they give a huge amount of extra grip?

its like changing from roller skates to a pair of sports shoes.. very effective also in rain.. and imo regardless of the road surface I always use them in winter..

so definitely recommended..

ps: dont go for 235-245 size,  215 is more than enough..with 235-245 winter tires you will be glued on the road where its dry ;D
