A bit seventies ;D

But impressive, nonetheless. 8-)

Wonder what they would have made of the F1 powered Renault Espace? :-/

Bet it sounded a bit special in there with those weber downdraughts echoing around the rear.  :-*

I think they need to do something about the body roll. :o I bet he was touching cloth on that chicane.  ;D

It does rather look like they forgot any anti-roll bars  ;D

I chuckled a little at the "With proven performance showing a 0-60 time of seven seconds.."

Still, in 1971, I suppose that was fast ;)

I'm guessing the 'wider track' was the only thing stopping it from falling over in the corners  ;D

I chuckled at the 'stretched tyres' - I can't recall if it was here or the MR2 forum where people were bemoaning this 'recent stupid trend' ..  :D

From memory the comments about the van's performance being a shade slower than the Le Mans winning GT40 is rubbish.  The car was much, much quicker, sub-five seconds to 60 and over 200mph at the top end.

It's true for a certain value of "shade". ;)

Obviously a huge airbrake like that is going to suffer aerodynamically compared to a GT40. I suppose both offered what would have been regarded by the layman of the time as pretty jaw-dropping performance, though. How things have changed. ;)

So, if anyone's got a GT40 kicking around, take note. It's a bit outdated. I can offer a disposal service for such obsolete cars and my rates are very reasonable. :D

.. as long as a fine mist of petrol and oil rejected by the engine would be acceptable. ;)
