Ouch!!! Poxy potholes...!!!!
« on: 17 January 2011, 10:14:05 »

Dropped my daughter back at uni in Canterbury on Saturday.

Heading out of town in the evening to go home there was an almighty BANG! - actually more like BANGBANG! We'd hit a really nasty pothole with both offside wheels.

The pothole wasn't particularly big, but it looked fairly new so had nice clean, sharp edges!

Didn't actually have the stereo on at the time, but the impact was enough to turn the stereo on, AND change it to CD player mode!

I wasn't able to see any obvious damage and the car still seems to drive ok, but I will get it checked out.

Yep, the damn things are everywhere! ::) ::) ::)

Well in Kent they are!! >:( >:(

Best, as you say, to get it all checked out, with a visual check now by yourself on all the walls of your tyres, and the main treads.  I once had a clean cut under the tread that was not visable until it flapped down when the wheel was in the right position! :o :o ;)

Too true Lizzie!

We used to live in Margate, and I well remember people had 'I'm a Thanet pothole dodger' stickers on their cars!

Nothing has changed much....

Yup, more proof to show how ill equipped this country is in dealing with winter weather.

I drive around the Kent roads most days of the week covering some 700-800 miles a week.

The condition of the roads is a disgrace..even potholes on the M20  and M2 in places...you actually spend more time looking at the road infront of you trying to pick your way through the "craters"than actually watching wher you are travelling.

Something really needs doing and quick..the destruction to suspension/tyres on peoples cars must be horrendous, trouble is what can we really do that makes a statement that will be listened to.Council budgets are being squeezed so looks like its going to be more bumps and bangs for sometime to come.

Last year on the advise of my favourite radio station...Planet Rock..I bought a very suitable tax disc holder...ebay no(140501843548)..hasnt done any good but it makes me smile when I get in/out of car.
Perhaps we should all use this silent protest.?
