My Baby written off
« on: 24 January 2011, 16:21:44 »

im absolutely devastated, my gorgeous silver Omega is a write off. I still cant believe what happened, my car locked in reverse gear and hit a wall. Ive just got back from the hosptial with injuries to my leg and i cant stop crying. ive been driving for 18 years and never had a crash or accident, and now this.
All i can say is thank god i was the only one hurt. Ive lost the nicest, loveliest car ive ever owned and im gutted :'( :'( :'(

Sorry for you loss, sounds a strange one, what sort of speed was involved, did your brakes work?

Was a nice car that, saw it when James had it

i had just reversed to outside my house, put the car in park and the engine revved sky high without me touching the accelerator and then it went, im only assuming it has locked into reverse, but quite fankly im in no state to sit here analysing whats happened to my car and why, all i know is it was bloody scary and ive lost my pride and joy :(

so traditional cable drive then, did it have cruise control?

Sorry for the 20 questions, must be the last thing on your mind, just trying to work out what may have happened.

I think we're all thinking a similar thing....there's written off, and then there's written off...plenty of cars that an insurer will write off are actually perfectly repairable. As far as I'm concerned, so long as the 'back' isn't broken, it's repairable, especially when you consider how cheaply donor vehicles can be had for...

I would also add I feel utterly for your loss, and hope you're feeling 100% soon. One door has closed, another is sure to open soon.  :y

I am so sorry to hear of your loss Foxy, but thank God you, or somebody else, were not seriously hurt.

Having had one miggy written off, and another coming very close to it within the last 15 months, I know how you are feeling.  What I did though was just focused on getting  as much as possible from the insurance company to buy the best Omega I could afford! ;) ;)

its leaking something underneath, the back end as far i can see is scuffed and dented (im going on what the recovery bloke told me re the write off). The front bumper and irmscher splitter are buggered. The fog lights are smashed and he had to cut some pipe to get the bumper off (dont ask me what) Theres no damage to the headlights its all bumper and below. Oh and the drivers door wont close I Know the bloke whos recovered my car so im going down tomorrow to see what the extent of the damage really is. He s in the body repair business. if truth be told id really love this to be repaired as ive said it was the nicest car ive ever owned. I think i may have to cut my losses and get another one if truth be told :'( :'( :'(
