Project Elite LPG rebuild.....
« on: 08 July 2007, 12:55:36 »

Well, today was the first day this last 4 weeks that it didn't rain AND I was off work, so I decided to press ahead a bit with the project rebuild car.

Just to recap, It is a 1999 Facelift LPG Elite. I have changed the engine completely and am in the process of putting everything back.

OK, so underneath first to connect up the second centre section. Then, rejoin the gearbox coller pipes - YUK. Is there ever going to be a way to join them WITHOUT getting an armful of ATF?

Then, refitted the last engine mounting nut - having found it at last. After that, under the bonnet and refit the temp sensor on the back of the engine, connect the HBV to the LPG bypass system, then ensure the gearbox vent pipe is up nice and high and secured. After that, refitted the exchange plenum and connect everything up.

Now, the water system needs a plastic 'T' piece as I left the old one on the old engine block, which was scrapped. Forgot to remove it as it isn't normally there. Tried a 15mm copper T piece, but just too short to get a decent seal, so everything on hold until Monday now.

Did the rewiring for the LPG, soldering all connections and then trying to locate all the wiring nightmare back in. Then, whilst stretching to refit the scuttle - CRACK. No, not the windscreen, my back. Something definitely gave and to say I am in pain now is a gross understatement. For those that don't know, I have a severe back problem anyway and take fairly strong medication anyway. For this one, I am straight onto pethadine which is about as strong as they get before you hit Morphine.

SO, I won't be on here later once this kicks in. Car must now wait uintil next week again. Getting fed up now, that car has been here since April. I just want to finish it now.

Oh well. :(
