White van suggestions please
« on: 04 February 2011, 20:37:03 »

Looks like i'm joining the white van man club for courier job  :P  :question

I'm looking for a vauxhall combo size van, possibly belingo, partner etc, definitely got to be diesel  :)

Got approx £2500 to spend.

Any advice on reliability, running costs etc would be gratefully accepted

The 1.3 CDTi is brilliant, reliable, quiet, quick enough. My old Astra van had the 1.3 although it's higher output in the Astra van, it would sit at 100 MPH all day long without any struggle, absolutely superb on fuel too, it'd travel 150 miles to £12, performance as said already is good too :y

Get a VW Caddy matey!

We've had an '02 plate 1.9SDi for the last six years.
Bags of grunt and 53 mpg, plus superb build quality.
And with leaf springing on the rear, it handles really well when loaded.

Previously had Escorts, Maestros and Astras - all literally fell apart.
Without doubt, the Caddy's the best van we've ever had, and the local dealer has been excellent.
 :y :y :y :y :y

They also seem to hold their prices well too, even in these recessionary times 8-)

From the reserve light its about 58 quid. 550 miles is mainly motorway and being careful.

Heavy right foot is generally 460 -470 per tank.

If you aren't going to be carrying palletised goods (so can have a tailgate instead of twin doors) the Astra is a good motor too... I had a V reg one when I worked in the garage and it was superb. Took a lot of abuse too ::) ::)
